Torrential rain and gales made filming the visit of the Queen Mary 2 to Liverpool almost impossible but by doing a juggling act with an umberella I managed to shield the camera from the rain every now and again.The video shows day turning to night whilst the magnificent Queen Mary 2 was docked for about 12 hours at Liverpool cruise terminal before leaving for her home at Southampton.The visit was part of her 5th birthday celebration as she sailed round Britain.We did'nt stay for the departure and fireworks as my hands and feet were numb from the cold.

A Royal Rendevous: The Queen Mary 2 sounds off to her namesake, using one of the qm's origianl brass whistles, on permanent loan from Cunard. Due to her size and weight, this is as close as the QM2 could get without running aground. This is the exact same reason why she was backed into the main shipping channel in the Los Angeles Pier to pick up her first So Cal Passengers. (Cruise ships normaly dock next to the QM.)

This was a difficult video to take: The sun was directly in the path of the Queen Mary 2. I could not see anything in the viewfinder nor the screen. I had to guess the exposure but all in all it did'nt come out to bad. Queen Mary 2 came from Southhampton, England through the mediteranean Sea, Suez Canal, Dubai, India, Honkong, Shanghai, Aukland, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Mauritius Island etc. etc. 2600 passengers and 1500 Crew, Cinema for 1000 people.
