Queen Mary 2 Passing under the Golden Gate Bridge

Queen Mary 2 passes Gourock / Greenock, 06:30 hrs19th Oct. 2009
Video shows the Queen Mary 2 passing Gourock at 06:30 hrs en-route to the Port of Greenock. This is the ships first visit to the River Clyde, Scotland, the river where her predecessor the QE2 was constructed,, and made her farewell cruise from. What a pity it was dark in Scotland at this time and as she is due to leave again at 18:30 hrs it will be dark again. Would love to have some feeedback from any one who was onboard as she passed and spent time ashore in Greenock, sorry about the weather!!!

Queen Mary 2 Under the Golden Gate
View of the Queen Mary 2 as she entered San Francisco Bay passing under the Golden Gate Bridge, 04 Feb 07. Spectators' reactions can be heard. There were several hundred watercraft to welcome the Queen. We were on the 'California Hornblower', one of the large boats that accompanied her under the Gate. Note the grey/green target on the bridge so the ship could pass beneath the bridge with about thirty feet clearance. It was quite an experience.

Cruise ship Queen Mary 2 going to Rotterdam 22.07.09 (3)
The RMS Queen Mary 2 is a Cunard Line ocean liner named after the earlier Cunard liner Queen Mary, which was in turn named after Mary of Teck, the Queen Consort of George V. It does not commemorate the reign of Queen Mary II. At the time of her construction in 2003 by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique, the Queen Mary 2 was the longest, widest and tallest passenger ship ever built, and at gross tonnage (GT) of 148528 tons, was also the largest. She lost the gross tonnage distinction to Royal Caribbean International's 154407 GT Freedom of the Seas in April 2006, but Queen Mary 2 remains the largest ocean liner (as opposed to cruise ship) ever built, and her width, length, and waterline breadth are unsurpassed by any other passenger ship.[4] Moreover, the Queen Mary 2 displaces approximately 76000 tons; the Royal Caribbean Freedom ships displace about 64000 tons. The Queen Mary 2 was the first major ocean liner built since the Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1969. Queen Mary 2's facilities include 15 restaurants and bars, five swimming pools, a casino, a ballroom, a theatre, and a planetarium. General characteristics: Tonnage: 151400 gross tons Displacement: 76000 tonnes (approx) Length: 1132 ft (345 m) Beam: 135 ft (41 m) waterline, 147.5 ft (45.0 m) extreme (bridge wings) Height: 236.2 ft (72.0 m) keel to funnel Draft: 33 ft (10.1 m) Decks: 13 passenger decks Installed power: 117 MW (157000 horsepower) CODAG Propulsion: Four 21.5 MW electric propulsion pods: 2 fixed and 2 azimuthing ...
